FAQS

Pilates, taught with purpose.

Whether you are completely new to Pilates or have years of experience, our approach is centred around learning the method properly, developing control and understanding how your body moves. We believe good Pilates is about quality, not simply making an exercise harder.

I have never done Reformer Pilates before. Can I join?

Absolutely. If you are completely new to Reformer Pilates, your first step is to book one of our Beginner classes. Our Beginner classes are designed to introduce you to the Reformer and, more importantly, to the foundations of the Pilates method. You will learn how the equipment works, how to position your body and how to approach the exercises wit control and precision. You can find our classes and timetable through the Classes section of our website.

What makes Tree Pilates different?

We believe Pilates is more than a workout on a reformer. Our teaching is grounded in the principles of Joseph Pilates' original method, with an emphasis on control, precision, concentration, breathing and purposeful movement. We don't believe in rushing through exercises simply to make a class feel harder. We want you to understand the movement, work with intention and progressively develop strength, control and body awareness.

How do I book a class?

Head to our page menu, click on "Classes", then "timetable" and choose the class that suits you.

How far in advance can I book a class?

Our timetable is open 3 months in advance, so please feel free to take a look at our studio schedules and book your classes with lots of time to spare!

What is the waitlist procedure?

Each class has six spaces available on the waitlist. If a place becomes available before the waitlist closes, you will automatically be moved into the class. Waitlists close one hour before the scheduled start time. If you are moved from the waitlist into the class, you will receive a confirmation email from Mindbody, depending on your notification preferences. Please remember that once you have been moved into the class, our normal cancellation policy applies. If you can no longer attend, you must cancel within the appropriate timeframe to avoid losing your credit. If your plans change while you are on a waitlist, remove yourself from the waitlist rather than risking being automatically booked into the class.

How old do I have to be to attend classes at Tree Studio?

You have to be at least 16 years old to attend Pilates classes.

What is the cancellation policy?

All booked classes require 24 hours cancellation notice prior to a class or you will be charged in full. Classes can be cancelled via your online account.

Can I swap classes if my schedule changes?

Absolutely! You can swap classes anytime before the 24-hour cancellation window.

How do I know when my package expires?

The expiry period of your package begins on the day of the first class booked on you package. The expiry date will be noted when you select your package, on the receipt, and can also be found on by logging into your online account.

Why do I need to attend Beginner classes before moving to other classes?

We don't use Beginner classes simply as introduction to the Reformer. They are where you learn the foundations of our method: how to set up the equipment, how to position your body, how to work with resistance and, most importantly, how to move with control and precision. Beginner classes gives you time to become familiar with these foundations before progressing to a faster-paced or more varied class.

I have been doing Reformer Pilates for years. Do I still need to attend Beginner Classes?

Yes. Everyone new to Tree is required to complete Beginner classes before progressing to other levels, regardless of previous Pilates experience. This is not intended to question your existing experience, Different studios teach the reformer and the Pilates method in different ways, and our Beginner classes allow you to become familiar with our equipment, teaching approach, terminology and expectations. Once you have established those foundations, we can advise you on the most appropriate class for you.

Can I attend Reformer Pilates at Tree if I am pregnant or after I have given birth?

If you are trying to become pregnant, you can attend any Pilates class. Please inform us (in confidence) once your pregnancy has been confirmed so that we can provide you with the best possible care and advice.

During your pregnancy, we will advise you to attend our Beginner and All level classes.

After giving birth we advise that you can attend Beginner and All level classes after 6 weeks post-medical clearance.

If I have a caesarean we advise that you wait 12 weeks prior to returning to classes post-medical clearance.

If you are pregnant (and reaching your 16th week of pregnancy) and you are new to Tree Pilates studio, you will be limited to our private training sessions and beginner classes.

What to wear to a Pilates Class?

Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely (and to sweat). Usually a t-shirt or vest and shorts or leggings. While you should be comfortable, tops should be close-fitting enough for you to be able to monitor and correct your posture and body shape during exercises. You will not need trainers, but can wear grip socks. Please do not wear any clothing with zips, or any sharp objects as this can damage the equipment.

Should I arrive early for a class?

If it is your first class please arrive 10 minutes early to learn how to use the reformer pilates machine. If you are new client and are running late you will not be allowed into the class, as you will have missed the reformer introduction and the warm up and it would be unsafe to let you enter the class.

How late can you be before you aren’t allowed into the class?

If you are more than 5 minutes late you will not be allowed into the class, as you will have missed the warm up and it would be unsafe to let you enter the class.

Can I buy gift cards?

Yes, you can purchase them online with an amount of your choice. All gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Can I book a class and then pay in Studio?

No. You need to have credit on your account before any classes can be booked.
